June's Teen Book Chat
Our sixth chat of the year will take place Monday, June 2 on Twitter at 8:00 PM Eastern Time. The first hour of the chat, we'll discuss the four questions, one every fifteen minutes. For the last half an hour, we'll just have an open chat relating to the topic or other things YA books. Don't forget to use the hashtag #TBkChat to keep in the chat. June's topic is: Bestseller Lists.
The questions are:
Q1 What are some great bestseller books you’ve read recently?
Q2 How do best seller lists like the NYT influence your to-read list or book buying habits?
Q3 Given most lists aren’t a strict measure of what’s selling most, should books be on the list for months at a time or should list-makers share the love?
Q4 Do bestseller lists dominated by the same authors make it harder for the newbies to gain a fanbase?
Please comment, tweet about, share, blog about, ect this chat. If you have a blog, grab the button HTML in the sidebar. If you know a few YA lovers who'd be interested, send them this link. The more people involved, the better!

Apologies
As you may have noticed, yesterday was the first Monday of the month. As you also may have noticed, there was no Teen Book Chat last night. I could bore you with the details of my busy weekend, but I'm guessing you really don't care about that. Long story short, with the first Monday being so late in April, the book chat totally slipped my mind, and I profusely apologize.
(Just a note, if you don't see a blog post about the topic of the next chat by the week before the chat, feel free to email me or leave a prodding comment.)
May's chat will be the first Monday of May, the 5th. If you would like to make up April's chat, it can be rescheduled for next Monday. Leave a comment if you're interested in a make up chat. Otherwise, I hope to see you all in May. And again, so very sorry for the lack of communication about last night's chat! I hope one day you'll all find it in your hearts to forgive me.

First Teen Book Chat
This is the first post of what I hope to be many. I think Twitter Chats are a very good way to connect to a lot of people, and I would like to get to know the teen book community better.
The Teen Book Twitter Chat will take place the first Monday of every month at 8:00 pm eastern time. We'll use the hashtag #TBkChat. Each chat will be an hour and a half long. Each chat will have its own topic, along with four questions related to the topic. The first hour of the chat, we'll discuss the four questions, one every fifteen minutes. For the last half an hour, we'll just have an open chat relating to the topic or other things YA books.
The first chat will take place January 6 on Twitter. Don't forget to use the hashtag #TBkChat to keep in the chat. January's topic is: Bad language and dirty jokes in YA books
The questions are:
Q1 Does excessive bad language and rude or vulgar remarks encourage you to or discourage you from reading a book?
Q2 Are contemporary novels that are ‘clean,’ such as Ally Carter’s books, misrepresenting the truth of teenagers?
Q3 Should books with excessive bad language and other mature content be marketed to the young side of the YA audience, say 12-14yo?
Q4 Do you think books with a lot bad language or other MA stuff like dirty jokes are a problem in YA that you’d like to see less of?
Dirty jokes in this chat refer to jokes with sexual connotations or other jokes you wouldn't say around an 8-10 year old. If you have other questions, feel free to leave them in the comments.
